Alar reduction

Unlike Caucasians, many Asians have wide alar and flared nostril. The ideal shape of nose wing is about 1/5 of facial width and nostril length is 2/3 of nose with symmetrical triangle shape.

Surgical Procedure

There are two common techniques for nose wing reduction or alar plasty, inner and outer cut. The inner cut of alar base is mostly aimed to narrow the flared nostril. Meanwhile, the outer cut is aimed to reduce the big alar wing and to narrow the width of alar base.
